Introduction

This body butter combines the ultra-moisturizing power of shea butter with the regenerative properties of baobab oil, creating a rich, creamy treat for your skin. It's easy to whip up and provides deep nourishment and lasting hydration.

Benefits

  • Shea Butter: Deeply moisturizes, rich in vitamins A and E, soothes inflammation, and promotes skin healing.
  • Baobab Oil: High in antioxidants and vitamins A, D, E, and F, improves skin elasticity, and helps repair damaged skin.

What This Recipe Helps With:

  • Dry Skin: Intensely hydrates and locks in moisture, preventing dryness and flakiness.
  • Eczema and Psoriasis: Soothes irritated skin and reduces inflammation.
  • Stretch Marks: Improves skin elasticity and may help minimize the appearance of stretch marks.
  • Sunburn Relief: Calms and soothes sun-exposed skin.
  • Dry Hair: Adds moisture and shine to dry, brittle hair.

How to make it

This body butter is made by melting shea butter, combining it with baobab oil, and then whipping the mixture to create a light, creamy texture.

Ingredients

  • 4 oz (120g) Shea Butter
  • 2 oz (60ml) Baobab Oil
  • Optional Essential Oils:
    • Rosehip oil: For skin regeneration and anti-aging properties.
    • Chamomile oil: For calming irritated skin.
    • Avoid: Peppermint or menthol oil if you have very sensitive skin, as it can cause irritation.

Instructions

  1. Melt the shea butter in a double boiler or a heat-safe bowl placed over a pot of simmering water.
  2. Once the shea butter is completely melted, remove it from the heat and let it cool slightly.
  3. Stir in the baobab oil.
  4. If using essential oils, add a few drops (10-15 drops total) and stir well.
  5. Place the mixture in the refrigerator for about 20-30 minutes, or until it begins to solidify around the edges but is still soft in the center.
  6. Use a hand mixer or stand mixer to whip the mixture until it becomes light and fluffy.
  7. Transfer the whipped body butter to a clean, airtight container.

How to use and store

Apply a generous amount of the body butter to your skin after showering or bathing, or whenever your skin feels dry. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Customization & Variations

You can customize this body butter by adding other beneficial oils like coconut oil or jojoba oil for added moisture. You can also add a small amount of arrowroot powder for a less greasy feel.

Why make this

This body butter provides intense hydration and nourishment, using natural ingredients to soothe and protect your skin. It's a luxurious treat that leaves your skin feeling soft, smooth, and healthy.
