This whipped body butter is simple to make: melt equal parts Baraka shea butter and cocoa butter with half as much kombo butter, chill, then whip. The shea and kombo butters are made by hand at the Konjeihi Women's Enterprise Centre in Wa, Ghana. Spice it up with essential oils, or leave it natural with only the butters and oils in the kit.

What is kombo butter? Kombo Butter used to be relatively unknown, but its amazing benefits and traditional use as a massage butter in Ghana are helping it to grow in popularity as a super-butter. It is high in myristoleic acid, which people traditionally associate with muscle and joint care.

In Ghana, kombo butter is traditionally used as a massage butter, so this whip can double as a rich massage rub as well as a luxurious butter.

HOW TO MAKE THIS LUXURIOUS BODY BUTTER

INGREDIENTS

*We used the ‘parts’ sizing to make it easy for you to make however much you want.  If you want to use about 1.8 oz (50 g) of shea butter then use the same amount of cocoa butter and ½ as much kombo butter.  Don’t be afraid to adjust and experiment.

DIRECTIONS

  1. Melt your shea butter, cocoa butter, and kombo butter in a double boiler.
  2. Once all the butters are melted and thoroughly mixed, strain it and place in the refrigerator until cool and the top begins to harden slightly.
  3. Blend with a mixer on high speed for 3 - 4 minutes or longer until you get the consistency you want!
  4. Once whipped, place your luscious body butter into an airtight container.
