Here are some fun recipes which are super simple to make.  You can find more at DIY Shea Butter Recipes.  (if you run into any trouble just email us recipes@sheabuttermarket.com)

Luxury Face Cream With Whipped Shea Butter

This super nourishing recipe which boasts the miraculous nutrients in Shea Butter, is excellent for all skin types, including anyone suffering from dehydrated, acne-prone, blemished, or sensitive skin.

The fatty acids, natural oils, vitamin A and vitamin E in unrefined shea butter keeps your skin in tip-top condition, protects it from the sun, and gives you a healthy glow.  Even more! Research conducted by “The American Journal of Life Sciences claims that Shea Butter boosts collagen production, demonstrating anti-aging properties” [1].

Ingredients

  • Shea Butter
  • Vitamin E oil
  • Apricot kernel oil
  • Olive oil
  • Aloe vera gel
  • Vanilla essential oil

Instructions

  1. Using Shea Butter as a base (around 1/2 cup), warm it slightly, and then add some aloe vera (around 2 tablespoons).
  2. Add one drop of vitamin E oil and one drop of apricot kernel oil.
  3. Make sure you achieve a cream with a good consistency by regulating how much Shea Butter you use. In the beginning, it is trial and error with all the recipes, but it is great fun, and it will not take long for you to perfect your natural chemical-free, homemade product.
  4. Using your fingertips, massage the Luxury Face Cream With Whipped Shea Butter on a cleansed or washed face at least once a day. If you put it on both in the morning, and at night, you will see a positive transformation much quicker. Shea Butter smells beautiful, adding to the holistic experience of feeling good, as well as having beautiful skin.

(Note: make a sufficient amount for one month’s usage, and then make a fresh batch).

Shea Butter Super Soft Hair Conditioner

Anyone who wants silky soft shiny hair that is easy to manage, should try making this hair conditioner. This is a first-class recipe for revitalizing challenging hair follicles, and fortifying weak hair strands. Due to the miraculous properties of Shea Butter, it really does deliver positive results.

Ingredients

  • Shea Butter
  • Vitamin E oil
  • Aloe vera gel
  • Raw honey
  • Sweet almond oil
  • Coconut milk
  • Vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Using coconut oil as a base (in an amount which is suitable for one treatment), add some slightly warmed Shea Butter to get a nice consistency which is not too runny.
  2. Then add a teaspoon of honey, a drop of vanilla extract, and just a tiny drop of almond oil.
  3. When it is ready, make a parting in your hair using a comb, and scoop the conditioner out from a plastic bowl with an applicator bottle, your fingers, or a hair dye applicator brush, and apply it. Then make another parting and repeat the process all over your scalp. You will probably make about six partings all together.
  4. Massage it in well, and then spread the Shea Butter Super Soft Hair Conditioner on the rest of your hair, ensuring you cover all of your hair strands right from the top to the very ends. You should then put on a plastic bath cap which will keep in the heat for a better effect.
  5. Leave on for at least half an hour, and then rinse off and give your hair a light shampoo. If you give yourself this treat once a week, you will be elated at the head-turning results!

(Note: only make enough Shea Butter Super Soft Hair Conditioner for one application, as the coconut milk will not keep.)

Shea Butter Brown Sugar Citrus Scrub

This Shea Butter scrub with a zing of citrus, is a fabulous recipe for making your skin super soft. It can be used all over the body, and is soft enough to use on the face. It has a great aroma, and its gentle polishing effect removes old surface skin cells, and can help to keep wrinkles at bay [1]. This action not only enables moisturizers to penetrate more deeply, it also works to clear any blocked pores.

Ingredients

  • Shea Butter
  • Orange essential oil
  • Brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Slightly warm the Shea Butter and add a drop of orange essential oil and half a cup or less of brown sugar. Bare in mind that this can be for one or two treatments, so work out how much you need accordingly.
  2. Apply the Shea Butter Brown Sugar Citrus Scrub with your hands once a week while you are showering, of just before you get in the bath. As you put it on, use a massaging action. Avoid putting it on close to the eye area.

(Note: this scrub keeps for around a week, so you could make a batch for two treatments).
