The holidays are right around the corner, so we wanted to share a few of our favorite Shea Butter DIY’s with a twist of holiday cheer. Whether you plan on selling these to your customers or making them for friends and family as personal gifts, these simple and delicious do-it-yourself recipes are fun and easy to create. Bring on the nutmeg, peppermint, and pumpkin spice!!
Gingerbread Body Butter
Ingredients:
½ cup of Baraka Shea Butter
½ cup of coconut oil
2 tsp. ground ginger
1 tsp. of cinnamon
2 tsp. of vanilla extract
Directions:
Heat the coconut oil and shea butter on a saucepan until melted. Then remove and let cool to room temperature. Scoop into a bowl and place in fridge for 20 minutes. Remove from the fridge and add remaining ingredients, whip for 2-3 minutes. Place in a cute mason jar, and package accordingly for gifts!
Candy Cane Lip Balm
Ingredients:
1 tblsp. of beeswax
3 tblsp. of coconut oil
10 drops of peppermint essential oil
1 tblsp. of Baraka Shea Butter
Directions:
Begin by melting the beeswax, shea butter, and coconut oil in a saucepan. Once melted, add peppermint essential oil drops. Pour into tins and let cool.
Vanilla Cookie Face Scrub
Ingredients:
⅔ cup brown sugar
2 tblsp. of Baraka Shea Butter
⅓ cup ground oats
1 tsp. of vanilla extract
½ cup of almond oil
Directions:
Melt the shea butter in a saucepan and let cool. Add the vanilla extract and almond oil to cooled product and slowly stir. Lastly, throw in the ground oats and brown sugar, mixing for 2-3 minutes. Place in tin or mason jar to store.
Pumpkin Spice Body Lotion
Ingredients:
¼ cup of cocoa butter
2 tblsp. of almond oil
2 tblsp. of coconut oil
2 tblsp. of Baraka Shea Butter
1 tsp. of beeswax
⅛ tsp. of paprika
10 drops of cinnamon essential oil
7 drops of ginger essential oil
5 drops of nutmeg
2 drops of all spice essential oil
2 drops of clove essential oil
Directions:
Mix cocoa butter, coconut oil, almond oil, shea butter, and beeswax and melt in saucepan or double boiler.Stir until all ingredients are melted together. Once ingredients are all melted, add the paprika. Let paprika seep for around 10 minutes. Place in a bowl and put in fridge. When the lotion is almost solid, but not completely solid, remove it from the fridge. Add the essential oils and whip up with a handheld mixer for about a minute. Transfer into a jar and store in room temperature.
We are so excited to get into the holiday spirit with these DIY creations, and find that handmade gifts are requested each year from our friends and family. While store-bought presents are thoughtful, making something from scratch and from the heart takes the cake (and now we are hungry).
