By now, you have probably heard of Shea Butter: the hair and skin superfood. Anyone who has ever incorporated it into their skincare routine will tell you the results are incredible! Besides its ultra-nourishing and moisturizing advantages, it can also help with skin inflammation, skin disorders, stretch marks, scars, sunburns, crows feet, fine lines, and more! The list is endless and goes beyond the marketed “anti-aging” benefits that we often see associated with Shea Butter.

High end skin care products can be pricey, and while we may feel the need to purchase them in order to see results, you can use their key ingredients and make your own skincare products at home!

One of the leading industry base ingredients is Shea Butter, and while economical separately, companies market it inside pricey eye creams and body moisturizers.

There are many amazing Shea Butter DIY hacks for skin and hair that we would LOVE to share with all of you.

They are easy to make and won’t break the bank!

Shea Body Butter

The skin is the largest organ in our body. Oftentimes, we forget that everything we put on our skin can easily be absorbed into our bloodstream (yikes). That is why it is best to use natural products for all-over body lotions, we promise you will likely be floored with how supple your skin feels after using this Shea Body Butter.

Ingredients:

1 cup Baraka Shea Butter

1/2 cup coconut oil

1/2 cup almond oil

Directions: Melt Shea Butter and coconut oil in the top of a double boiler. Remove from heat and let cool for 30 minutes. Then, whip until a butter-like consistency is achieved. This should only take a few minutes. Add almond oil in the end and let sit.. voila!

Shea Eye Cream

Your Eye Cream should contain more beneficial ingredients than harmful ones. That is why we recommend you try making your own. You need a rich and creamy under-eye cream that can restore elasticity and moisturize effectively.

Ingredients:

2 tablespoon of Shea Butter

1 teaspoon of beeswax

1 teaspoon of rosehip oil

4 drops of geranium essential oil

mason jar

Directions: Combine all of the ingredients together, except for the geranium essential oil and rosehip seed oil into a mason jar. Fill a pot on the stove halfway with water, and place the mason jar into the water. Place on medium heat for about 6 minutes, or until contents are melted. Mix the contents of the jar every minute. Once melted, pour the mixture in a small mixing bowl and let it cool for 5 minutes before stirring in the essential oil. Scoop the mixture into a glass jar or lip balm container.
