Fruit Happens: Story of Shea Butter

Fruit Happens! Shea butter is the seed of a fruit that ripens and falls from shea trees by late April, and the women's producer groups at the Konjeihi Women's Enterprise Centre in Wa, Ghana, turn those seeds into shea butter by hand.

Every year. Shea trees blossom in January and fruits start to form and by late April they are ripening and falling from the trees. Great fun, great treat and great for the women and the local economy.
