Beauty tips from around the world

The world is diverse and beautiful: Check out these beauty tips from around the world.  And share yours with us in the comments.

Being half-Indian (my dad was born in New Delhi), I am well aware that my glowing skin comes from his side of the family. Growing up, I was told that turmeric would clear my acne and reduce inflammation. I was constantly making masks of turmeric paste starting from age 15… and my ancestors were right!

As I was making another turmeric paste mask this week, I thought of this blog post idea. I knew I had to research and compile beauty hacks and tips from around the world. So let’s get started!

India: Indian brides often use turmeric during the Haldi ceremony on their wedding day. Tradition proves that turmeric helps produce glowing skin. Apply to face to improve complexion.

Mexico: Nectar from Agave fruits is used to help prevent aging, and it is often mixed with oatmeal and rice to create an exfoliating scrub.

Peru: Aloe helps with dry skin and can be found in this beautiful country. It also has healing properties and can help soothe burns. Buy in pure form if possible!

Australia: The native kakadu plum has Vitamin C and is often used in skincare and face creams.

Zanzibar: This country’s seaweed is used in various soap bars as it is packed with Vitamin A and B.

Brazil: Acai berries are a beauty staple in Brazil. It contains many vitamins, including A, B, C, and E, and it is found in many day and night creams.

Japan: Matcha is not just for drinking. Japanese culture believes that matcha can prevent hair loss and scalp irritation.

Haiti: Black castor oil is full of Omega Fatty Acids that help hair grow. It is often found in many American shampoos and conditioners.

As I’m writing this post, I have my turmeric mask on (I have to wait 30 minutes before I wash it off). So hopefully by the time I finish this list, I will have glowing skin once again!

Have you heard of all of these beauty tips? We truly can learn so much from other cultures and traditions worldwide.
